Righteous World
I’d rather be wrong about a righteous world
Than right about a world gone wrong
Someone explain how did this pain and sorrow
Drain the love out of me
See tomorrow start to shine
Let the anger fall behind
When you take the time to breath
All I ever had was now
But I blocked it out somehow
To look ahead and make believe
I’d rather be wrong about a righteous world
Than right about a world gone wrong
There’s nothing to gain
Hoarding your disdain
How proud are you of your pain?
Pointing out everything that’s wrong
Notes that don’t belong
The tempo changes in and out of time
You see now that you’re blind
To everyone who ever was unkind
I’d rather be wrong about a righteous world
Than right about a world gone wrong
Down pours the rain
Washing away the anger, fear, and shame
Put some kindness in your worlds
till peace rains down
Be Love bound
Be love bound

When I Fell
C F
I was thinking bout the time I had
C F
Went down so well, woke up so sad
C F
In the morning the birds would sing
C F
I’d be out so cold I never heard a thing
C F Am C
Driving home on the wrong side of the road
F C G
Looks like the moon is sinking
F C G
There must be someone else up drinking
F C G F C F Am F
I wish I knew what I was thinking when I fell in love
C F
All the times I had to learn
C F
Which house was yours which way to turn
C F
And which bed in the house was yours
C F
Walking in wrong rooms Knocking on wrong doors
C F Am C
Waking up wondering where I am
F C G
She went to work – left me alone
F C G
I’d of stayed if I’d a known
F C G D (yes D!)
Note said I should make myself at home
F C G F
I wish I knew what I was thinking when I fell in love
C F
I remember the time I had
C F
Wasn’t all that good, wasn’t all that bad
C F
Borrowed bedrooms borrowed phones
Am Am addGbass F
Never paid one bill never slept alone
F C G F
I wish I knew what I was thinking when I fell in love

Car Living

Born in an apartment
Raised up in a house
When I was small I figured that was what life was about
Get yourself a job, a mortgage and a wife
Have a couple kids and you'll be set for life
My brother did
my sister did
my cousin did
But I'm out on the road
Every day and every night
No place I got to go
Laying low living light
Nothing else has worked
Nothing else has felt so right
Caaaarrr Living
To hell with all the rest this license plate is my address
I'll be heading out in the morning
Caarrr Living
Everything's in back - pillow and road map
Ice chest and a spare -
there ain't no room back there
Pulled off at a truck stop along the interstate
Gotta get some gas and crash
Before it gets too late
Gotta get up early gotta job in the next town
I don't need much money just enough to get around
But my brother does
My sister does
My cousin does
But I'm out on the road
Every day and every night
No place I got to go
Laying low living light
Nothing else has worked
Nothing else has felt so right
Caaaarrr Livng
To hell with all the rest this license plate is my address
I'll be heading out in the morning
Caarrr Living
With a lap top and cell phone this ain't no rental- I own
Every town is different
Every town's the same
Dairy Queens and Wall Marts boarded by different names
It used to bring me down
Used to break my heart
Then I realized all I need is
Someplace to park
But I'm out on the road
Every day and every night
No place I got to go
Laying low living light
Nothing else has worked
Nothing else has felt so right
Caaaarrr Living
What street am I on?
It don't matter much
I'm gone
In the morning

Guitar String Tattoo
03:47
|
|

Its raining now on Powell sitting in doughnut shop
I only have a dollar and some change
And I'm working on an angle
That will put me in some dough
The next time that you see me I'll be changed
Babe it may have been forever If only half a year
The tears you shed were real enough I know
The day that I went down
I couldn't think too clear
And never new my love enough to show
Two months down I knew between my bunk, the bars, the floor
All I really had in life was you
I only told old Wally
A lifer off the row
And he made for me this guitar string tattoo
It took him several days we stayed in from the yard
And made it look like we were playing spades
In between the shuffling
And cutting of the cards
Your name upon my arm
Was permanently engraved
Now I'm out of money 'cept for change enough to call
Wondering in my coffee what to do
It's raining doubt and diamonds
With this pay-phone in my hand
And on my arm a guitar string tattoo

Commercial Art
It's 3am and I'm starting to unwind again
It's too late to leave
It's too early now to call a friend
Pulling down the cans from the cupboard for a quiet meal
Numbers on the television - call us if you want a deal
Brother you alone? There's a girl by the telephone
Call her anytime - for a dollar and a dime you can have her
Have her, have her for a little while. Forget about the price
Doesn't she look nice? She's in color. Channel ten
She really wants to be your friend
Books are on the table. Beer is in the fridge
Somewhere in the middle I find a will to live
There's a lot of people working 'round the clock these days
Trading cash for food and gas and just about anything
You want. You can get it. Any time forget it.
What's wrong with that? That's where it's at. You got to Stay ahead of the
guy next door. There's no telling who he Is. He's got purple dots on his
socks. He's wearing shorts of Course. Hairy legs a dog that begs and kids
selling lemonade
At 3am? There's something wrong with them.
Rotary pinball - before it went extinct, filled my life with Pleasure and
gave me time to think.
Two plays for a quarter. Five balls to a game. You put the Bumper to the
ball and watch it go insane. You could catch It on the flipper - take your
time and aim. You could feel the Gears roll your points - today it ain't
the same. It's a little Too smooth for this geezer in his 20's. That's all
I got to Say about it - all too smooth - from the hairdo to the Groove.
Commercial art it breaks me heart I see it everyday. But I want to keep on
singing so that's all I'm going to say. You got to buy this, try this, see
this, get this, - I want to Keep on singing so that's all I'm going to say

A Way Away
03:11
|
|

Don't know why
Guess I stopped looking close enough to
Recognize
Just where to draw the line
Rings around my eyes
Are all that I can see
Can you show me a way away
From all I've come to be
Life's a breeze
'till you learn how to screw it up
Every day takes you farther away
From the time you arrived
Rings around my eyes
Are all that I can see
Can you show me a way away
From all I've come to be
Step outside and lead the way
Let no one follow
They'll take blue
And they'll give gray
Then call it a deal
Rings around my eyes
Are all that I can see
Won't you show me a way away
From all I've come to be
Show me a way

Brand New

|

Brand New
Try to find the sun. It's over the building
Through the walls. Do you see it sinking
With us this time. The street , the heat of an engine burning
Check your breath at the counter - drive through
It's all so new. All brand new
Those are mountains I've seen them on T.V.
These must be the real ones
Try to catch a minute
Stop your watch and see if you still move
Cast frozen from trying to save the time it takes to
Take the time to save it save it
Log the data through
These things are all brand new
Born within the wires
But we have lived without them
Can you call, can you call, can you call me
To die without a phone. Turn out the light.
Is the heat on? What's wrong - wrong with this T.V.
We haven't had it that long
How long will we have it? How long? Turn out the light
Try to save the time it takes to take the time to save it
Unplug it when you through
These things are all brand new
Turn out the light and lay your eyes down in the darkness. Keep them warm
Despite what they have seen
Fight the wars for gasoline
Until we are without it
We're gonna
Burn burn burn burn burn
Cast frozen from trying to save the time it takes to
Take the time to save it save it
Smoke of red and blue
These things are all brand new
Try to find the sun
Its over the buildings through the walls
Do you see do you see do you see it
Sinking

Silver Earrings
03:19
|
|
||
The sun shines on the water
Sparkling crystal and clean
Sometimes it calls
As water that falls
Into a heart
And out through a dream
Taking the buses home each night
The people all going somewhere
I can't tell my right from left
And don't know what's bad or best
You know that I know
We both need to get some rest
Chorus
So lay down those silver earrings
Lay down those golden chains
Lay them all down and come help me watch how it
Watch how it
Watch how it rains
All of the car seats are empty
The bars on the street have all closed
If you think I don't care
About the distance we share
It goes as it comes
And comes as it goes
You say there's nothing out there to believe in
There's nothing left out there to be
You can't find an open door
Until you know what door you're looking for
You know that I know
There's nothing less and nothing more
Chorus

Country Store
02:46
|
|
||
The old homestead is Dobins California
Population 105
The center of town is the store here off the apple grove
Across the way from Luther's drive
Chorus
We got a coke machine
We're pumping gasoline
On the game we got the latest score
So if you're driving through town
You'd better come on down
And see us at the country store
My grand dad built this store when he turned 18
He was looking to make a buck
In a year or two they put that interstate through
My grand dad always lived with luck
The truckers would stop and get groceries
The farmers a case of Coors
The traveling man
He'd come and fill his gas can
All here at the country store
Little John
My grand dad's only son
Took over the store last May
Now the world's moving faster
Poor old grand dad's out to pasture
And I'm working here about most everyday
I'm crushing boxes in the back
Then I tie them in a stack
And leave them on the interstate
It's 85 degrees
Sun is shaded through the apple trees
We're closing soon it's getting kind of late (Chorus)

As The Eagle Cries
03:24
|
|
||
As The Eagle Cries
There's a lantern on a branch
It glows against the sky
Fire sparks golden wings in the night
And the eagle cries
So we laid to rest our country down down down
People gazed as banners waved
Goodbye to every town
Down the stream on rocks
The moss still grows
Yet time will free the likes of thee
Who wait for the next snow
All ideals are lost the pride's all gone gone gone
Once proud to praise
Now who will raise our flag
Come the dawn
From coast to coast
And on throughout the land
Stories of our past
Were carried once again
The constitution
Faded with the years
Yet people longed to reunite
The states that disappeared
The mist shall rise
The lantern shall glow
As kindle creaks incentive speaks
To those who feel they know
And men who shall prevail over what's lost lost lost
And morning dew to wake the few
From slumber's softened frost

Mind On The Moon
02:37
|
|
||
I’ve been a loner I’ve been schooled
When you’re a loner you question the rules
You don’t hang with the rest of the gang
They’re drinking Kool aid. You’re drinking Tang
By noon they’re out having fun
Jumping around in that volleyball sun
While you sit
Alone in your room
Playing guitar
With your mind on the moon
All aces but you didn’t bet
This luck of the draw - you’ll never forget
Might have been something
Might have been known
Maybe someday you’ll be an app on a phone
No worries I’m not holding my breath
Everyday lived is one closer to death
Used to be angry then got depressed
Tried all kinds of pills
Some worked more or less
Years went by there was still something wrong
So I quit taking pills and started sharing my songs
It’s nothing viral more like a head cold
Too late to be fresh ..I’m getting too old
