Be 02:49
Be I'm not going to take Take your side I don't want to know whose side you're on I'm not going to take Take your side Every little side It turns out wrong Chorus I'm just going to be A part of that mountain I'm going to be A part of that sea I'm just going to be Slave to the air And that's all that I'm going to be I'm not going to move Out of position I'm not going to leave My mind behind I'm not going to let you down With new information Falling out from the sky To rest in the ground (chorus) I'm not going to waste Any more anger I'm not going to loose Any more faith I'm going to dance away Away from this sorrow Take a chance that tomorrow I'll still be in this place (chorus)

Road Of Rain 03:32
Road Of Rain On the brighter side There’s not much left to lose But if they took it all You’d have one less place From which to fall This world’s filled with loneliness It’s the worst kind of pain Two wipers broken on this Road of rain Another Café morning Every pretty woman seems to question your despair And on the worst of days They don’t have to say a thing They’ll cut right through you Just by sitting there The world’s filled with loneliness It’s the worst kind of pain Just try to keep from drowning on this Road of rain Two lives live as one together Swearing to hold on forever So you head out to Sedona Where water splits the hills of red and green It could be any place It’s hard to find any beauty when you’re looking through the waste It hurts to look through loneliness It’s the worst kind of pain You’re heart’s been shattered now it’s floating down this Road Of Rain Just try to keep from drowning

She’s a small town girl She lives in the city Her heart in the fields Her eyes on the lights She’s a small town girl Lives in the city She’s trying to turn day into night She don’t talk much She don’t have a lot to say She’s up every night She’s down every day Looking for someone To break her heart each way But catch her in case she falls She’s a small town girl Stuck in the city Where people smash their faces in the ground Business work there Men and women Keep their vides tight and hidden Trying to take two days From each one the earth spins round She’s a small town girl Lives in the city I guess she grew up there Lived there most her life Pierces the dark With eyes like a shark But her heart flashes on To a stream of street lights She’s a small town girl She lives in the city Her heart in the fields Her eyes on the lights She’s a small town girl Lives in the city She’s a small town girl She’s alright.

See him walking with his head held down Soda in hand Scanning the ground Looking for a letter on the back of a bottle cap He won it before He’ll win it again Twenty thousand dollars A Hawaiian weekend He says it’s not in how you find it It’s all in how you look for it Searching through each day Guessing that it pays He’s the bottle cap kid Down the boulevard In the rain He sees the lights He feels the pain But walks on by ‘cause he knows what he’s looking for On a bus lying in his lap He has a shopping bag filled with bottle caps Once he gets home He’s going to find That he’s won once more Something in his eyes Seems so hypnotized He’s the bottle cap kid His room is tuned State of the art He has a digital, computerized, bottle cap chart Remote controlled windows A robot, bar, TV. And in his dreams there’s a place in his world For a Coke machine And a bottle cap girl But he knows he’ll never find it Until he starts to look for it. W I N I think he’s won again He’s the bottle cap kid….He can’t lose.

One Room 02:53
One room I used to live there It was small And leaked in the rain What do you do when you got no money And no one but you to blame I’d take a job Then I’d leave the job Never had much more Than my time to spend What do you do when you know you know nobody And you know nobody knows you You got to Stand up To stand out Stand up If you want to stand out Locked in Too cold to go outside at night Gang members trading guns in on bullets What do you do When you’re left with no way But still have to find a way Before those friends I had nothing but a hole I dug it in deep But all I felt was control What do you do when you know you know nobody And you know nobody knows you What do you do when you know you know nobody And you know nobody knows you You got to Stand up To stand out Stand up To stand out Stand up If you want to stand out. Of one room For one

Junk Man's Journey By david shepherd grossman Grossosaurus music bmi Stop sign, go sign, people see you feeling fine Left turn, right turn, break it out and let it burn Nonsense makes sense, everywhere you go You go with the flow, for the flow, up ahead down below It don't matter Stying thin getting fatter It doesn't really matter on a junk man's junk man's journey See the sky, close your eyes, see another space Everything is real, some hurt, some heal Wake up, go to bed, read about what someone said Laugh about it Cry about it Live with it or live without it It don't matter It can not matter It doesn't really matter it's a junk man's junk man's journey Bless the ground, bless the sky, bless the trees, ask why Get a job, hold it down, leave a job, get out of town Stay rich, stay poor, wonder what you're living for Answer questions, ask some more Open up or close the door It don't matter It can not matter It doesn't really matter on a junk man's junk man's journey Buy this, buy that, throw it all away Make a friend, start again, if it doesn't work then trade it in Too small, too tall, too good, no good at all Catch a thought Break a fall Interrupt a phone call It don't matter It can not matter It doesn't really matter it's a junk man's junk man's Journey

Save Me From The Station David Shepherd Grossman 1999 I don’t need imagination From what I’ve seen it all looks real enough to me Someone save me from the station ‘cause its not bad here As bad as it could be To ride this train You must walk along the track You can’t catch it from the front But you might catch it from the back And don’t assume it needs you It’s gonna roll along Sometimes it might take you Somewhere you belong I don’t need imagination From what I’ve seen it all looks real enough to me Someone save me from the station ‘cause its not bad here As bad as it could be There’s some I owe And some feel put upon And some of them they thank me For this rail that I roll on And some of them are right And some of them are wrong And some of them are here And some of them are gone I don’t need imagination From what I’ve seen it all looks real enough to me Someone save me from the station ‘cause its not bad here As bad as it could be Let me roll on Save me from the station

Commercial Art It's 3am and I'm starting to unwind again It's too late to leave It's too early now to call a friend Pulling down the cans from the cupboard for a quiet meal Numbers on the television - call us if you want a deal Brother you alone?  There's a girl by the telephone Call her anytime - for a dollar and a dime you can have her Have her, have her for a little while. Forget about the price Doesn't she look nice? She's in color. Channel ten She really wants to be your friend Books are on the table. Beer is in the fridge Somewhere in the middle I find a will to live There's a lot of people working 'round the clock these days Trading cash for food and gas and just about anything You want. You can get it. Any time forget it. What's wrong with that? That's where it's at. You got to Stay ahead of the guy next door. There's no telling who he Is. He's got purple dots on his socks. He's wearing shorts of Course. Hairy legs a dog that begs and kids selling lemonade At 3am? There's something wrong with them. Rotary pinball - before it went extinct, filled my life with Pleasure and gave me time to think. Two plays for a quarter. Five balls to a game. You put the Bumper to the ball and watch it go insane. You could catch It on the flipper - take your time and aim. You could feel the Gears roll your points - today it ain't the same. It's a little Too smooth for this geezer in his 20's. That's all I got to Say about it - all too smooth - from the hairdo to the Groove. Commercial art it breaks me heart I see it everyday. But I want to keep on singing so that's all I'm going to say. You got to buy this, try this, see this, get this, - I want to Keep on singing so that's all I'm going to say

Indoor Moon 04:35
One day I’ll come round and see it your way Right or wrong It’s the long way I’ve been here before My friends Do not change when I change They stand tall And tell me if I’ve changed They can’t see it much at all Blue Screen Lights up my room Like and indoor moon New scenes Shown too soon to see Faces Talking to each other While I sing another song From inside my head Grey Skies Empty rooms And water eyes Ice Cream Cones And cherry pies Can not stop my song Blue Screen Lights up my room Like and indoor moon New scenes Shown too soon to see One day I’ll come round and see it your way Right or wrong It’s the long way I’ve been here before

about

Be: Based on an album called Home Alone. It has new songs on it and different versions of the songs that remain. The whole album was recorded by myself on a Zoom 8 track recorder. I am not much of a gear guy but I remember that was the recorder I used to record these songs.

The tracks:

Be: was written right before I went to AZ State Prison for 4 months in 1994. I think it was sort of an affirmation of sorts. I was going to simply Be. A nice thought and something to aspire to in life no doubt.

Road Of Rain: was written for my good friend in Az who lost his wife to a another man...for a while. She came back.

Small Town Girl: was written for my girlfriend at the time. We called her Geri. We lived together for 4 or 5 years.

Bottle Cap Kid: is a song about a fictional character who never seems to lose. This was before we had a few who claim that to be true for themselves in the media.

One Room: was written in the Ashram I lived in 1985. It was a room in Oakland. They said, "Truth is one. Many Are The Names." I was taught Sanskrit and yoga and to accept and study all religions. The more you learn about religion the more religious you'll become. That is a theory anyway. Having said that I don't believe religious dogma is healthy for the future of our species. Though a lot of it is good to know. I would never discount the existence of God. I like to think of God as more of a force that binds us together. That which makes absolutes absolute. Light speed. Gravity. I see God more as an equation than a deity. Unfortunately all the dogma separates us. David Byrne might be onto something when he sings,"Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens." I see God sort of the same way. He doesn't speak our language . When we read stuff he is supposed to have said... It comes from man. Man always writes the stuff and says it came from God.

Junkman's Journey: is my attempt at singing like David Byrne. We live in a disposable era where all things are disposable...pretty much. You can replace almost anything you don't create yourself. It's a Junkman's Journey.

Save Me From The Station: A song I may have performed once. The station is anywhere in life where you stop moving. - .jail - rest home -hospital - morgue. Save me from being stationary.

Commercial Art: Written in 1993. That was a good year for songwriting. I was trying to write a folk rap about some things I care about and some things I don't care for. I like pinball. I don't like most advertising. It is all in fun.

Steering Wheel: was written about 1995. It is sort of asking for someone to guide you in life..be my steering wheel. I have had a lot of help steering me in all directions at different times and even though some were into walls and dead ends... I am always grateful for the help.

When Lilly Dreams: was written when I was in prison. It is about a type of woman. I knew one like this. I am not going to reveal who she is because it doesn't matter.

Indoor Moon: is a favorite and I never play it much. It is a love song for..well you insert what your indoor moon is. For me it varies from a TV set to a girlfriend. But not aways in that order.
