Get Out 02:36
Get Out So the night life replaced the fear Letting go is easier Slipped into the social machine Where hearts are shown but seldom seen Chorus Got to get out Got to go Get out Got to get out Soon got to go get out Got to get out Got to go Get out Go to get out Soon got to go Put me on the last flight out tonight It's 1929 again Just dance until it all caves in Poets wait and watch T.V. Questioning their sanity I guess I'm stuck In between The sinking ship and the poet's dream The empty laughter feels so dry Sure won't hurt to say goodbye Put me on the last flight out tonight Chorus (new verse, not on this tape) (repete 1st verse on tape) I took you out took you in I didn't loose and I did not win You can play it you can say it but you better beware Morning comes and it just ain't there

The Getaway 02:53
The Getaway If I can't get out I'll leave a number Call me up before you head home This ain't about the strain we're under I wish this call was to tell you I've grown All the running at night just spun me 'round I never wanted to fight or shoot him down Chorus He drew me up I blew him up In the water his eyes meet mine They're gonna find me Try and confine me I need you're heart now to hide behind Saturday night 2 in the morning I won some money wins were blowing my way He switched the dice then without warning Grabbed my coat as I was walking away Sirens winding through the rain Newspapers wrote of the blood stains Chorus The radio has my name It's in the air they've searched our home You know I'll never feel the same The time left is still unknown They've blocked the bridge And they're searching the river I hit the drain way under the road Chorus

Smiles For The Morning David Shepherd Grossman ã1989/2001 Drainpipe dripping to the sewer line Clothes strung out across the alley X's mark the windows Sadness as the wind blows The waitress at my cafe says she's feeling fine Smiles for the morning When I met her I thought it'd be easy to forget her But then she held on I used to read the bible with 3-D glasses Thought maybe then I'd see some light The priest sent me to hell My father said, "Oh well, he seems to know his let from his right." Now there's an inside and an out side and there's beside you It was out of the city High up on the hill There I first noticed stars The people said they'd seen them But I never believed them You can carry that line too far And she said, "Take me away in the morning We'll make our way our way. Take me away in the morning you'll find happiness by mid day Take me away in the morning heaven ain't reached alone Take me away in the morning, take me home When I woke up this morning There was a smile drawn across my mirror Ashes will be ashes and dust is so fine But all can do is  forgive her Smiles For The Morning

Back Up 03:26
Back Up It's a cold night Crowded downtown Garbage in the subway don't smell too nice But he feels safer underground In his dream All the lights blend together He walks across the street to buy a new pair of feet And he thinks they'll last forever Chorus Back up back up to the beginning Back up before it all ends he's got to Back up back up to the beginning Back up and try to start again Followed the moon Across the lazy river Made it to the bank after his raft sank And had nothing left to give her But she didn't care She just stared out her window She said, " I never thought you'd make it back So I let you go." Chorus In the pool hall Playing pinball Plays it 'cause he likes the lights And he's waiting for something but he don't know what It's been driving him crazy He says, "Hey bartender if they call me again Tell them I'm leaving this life I'm in. "cause when I get up in the morning I'm missing a part Just tell them I've gone to overhaul my heart." Chorus

After The Storm After the storm I'm going to fly away The rain is pouring down now I'm hoping it will stay that way Sitting in an empty room At the airline Staring out a fogged up windowpane The water dilutes my thoughts And carries them...down the drain The rain on the window Washes away my sight On the freeway the cars roll by Getting drowned out by the night

Live And Grow It was a tropical journey on a dark blue sea Heading for the island of the Moroni Met a girl with a distant smile Her love was strong and it lasted for a while Palm trees swayed and we danced Silhouettes, too scared to take a chance Chorus Hey ho you live and grow If you're going to let go you're Gonna loose some soul Hey ho you live and grow If you're going to let go you won't stay whole In the seconds sliding into sleep That's the time I feel the most complete I wonder why this has to be But the answer remains a mystery Throw your life on the lilly pad If it floats good luck if it don't to bad Chorus The biggest mistake I ever made Was thinking that love was an even trade They say you get whatever you give When you think about life don't forget to live Chorus

Dawning On Me Walking down the sidewalk counting the squares They go by in two Gazing down the sleepy street Light flash off the sky turns blue The birds waiting for breakfast on the telephone wire Alligator shoes couldn't get me much higher 'cause I think it's just starting to dawn on me Dawning on me, dawning on me Love's like a raincoat Gets all wet while it keeps you dry Some stay in the sun too long No hello means no goodbye The birds fly from the wire down to the lawn Some worms stay for breakfast While others keep worming along And I think it's just Starting to dawn on me Dawning on me, dawning on me In the school yard the kids start to play And the moon is slipping away While that traffic light that's been flashing red in my dream Is turning back to a circle of red yellow green And it's starting to dawn on me I can barely hear the whistle of a train Rolling across the land So I'm whistling back Sound stretching like a rubber band The birds are full  they're teaching those worms how to fly And my heart's like that train that will whistle on by When it dawns on you That you're dawning on me The sun's Gonna rise again, it's Gonna set back down again Like them birds I intend on flying away

about

After The Storm was recorded in 1981 thru 1984. It has the the first release of Smiles For The Morning which has always been a favorite of mine over the years. I thought these songs strung together sort of told a story and I wanted to make a video of the story but I never got around to it. This album features Caribbean Bound which I have performed many times The Drinks. I was trying to take my music into something more commercial as I was told by record labels that my first release, Graffiti, was not commercial enough. I don't know if I got more commercial as this recording didn't get me a record deal either. Thanks to BANDCAMP I have a home for this music. After recording this album I moved into my car. I
